Discover the history, culture and hidden spots of San Angel on a photo walk. You will start at the studio of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera and from there you will walk through the small cobblestone streets of San Angel, while your guide will tell you all the history and legends of one of the most ancient neighborhoods of Mexico City. You will find some great spots to take pictures; our photography guide will suggest some exercises to immediately improve your technique, or give some advise in case you are an experiment photographer.The meeting point is the studio of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. From there you will walk to one of the top Restaurants in Mexico City: “San Angel Inn” which is a former Hacienda. Then, you will enter the small cobblestone streets of San Angel as your Photography guide will suggest some exercises to immediately improve your technique. You will pass by some beautiful houses and former Haciendas that were built on the colony period, until you get to the San Jacinto Church, the first one in the town that was built 1523, and that remains exactly as it was left by the Dominicans.
Your next stop is the house of the former Bishop of Tanagra. San Angel was the preferred spot of the Spanish that came with Hernan Cortés. Then you will keep walking until you find the former house of General Porfirio Díaz, who was the president of México for 35 years. After that you will arrive to the headquarters of General Santa Anna, who was in charge of the Mexican army in the war against the United States of America.
You will pass along “Bazaar del Sábado” to reach “Casa del Risco”, one of the most beautiful houses in the neighborhood and enter and our guide gives all the information about the impressive fountain in the courtyard. Then, you will make a stop at Borola Café, one of the best coffee shops in Mexico City. Here, you can go to the bathroom but also taste the top Mexican Coffee Beans.
Once you are done there, you will go through one of the greatest streets and take some pictures of “Callejon de la Amargura” to finally get to “Convento del Carmen," an impressive convent that was founded by the “Carmelities Order.”
