The itinerary order below applies to passengers from
Las Terrenas; passengers from Las Galeras or Samaná will first zipline
and then enjoy the horseback ride to El Limón Waterfall.
After hotel pickup from Las Terrenas, travel directly to the small town of El Café. At a typical Dominican parada, or horseback-riding ranch, receive your safety briefing and don a helmet. Then clop off and begin your guided trek up to El Limón Waterfall. As you make your way through steep, rocky paths, note the fruit trees, coffee and cocoa plants, and other tropical flora along the way. See fluffy clouds hovering over the peaks of the Sierra de Samaná, and traverse small rivers and valleys in the lush wilderness.
The horseback ride takes you most of the way there. After securing your horse with your guide’s help, descend a steep set of stairs and arrive at splendid El Limón Waterfall, enveloped by mountaintops and covered in ferns and moss. At the bottom of the 120-foot-high (37-meter) waterfall is a lovely swimming hole, a great place to splash around and rinse off the sweat and dust from your horseback ride.
Spend a leisurely 2.5 hours here to swim, relax and listen to the crashing water, or explore nearby areas on foot. You may see a few adventurous locals backflipping and diving off the face of the waterfall.
Return to the horse ranch (the total duration of the round-trip horseback ride is about 1 hour and 45 minutes), and refuel with a provided lunch featuring typical Dominican fare. (Passengers from Las Galeras or Samaná will have lunch at the horseback riding ranch after ziplining and before starting the trek to El Limón Waterfall.)
Continue on to Juana Vicenta, located near the Samaná city pier, for your ziplining adventure.
Receive a safety briefing at the training center, and then under the supervision of expert guides, climb up to your first platform, clip on to the line and jump off! During your four hours here, try as many of the 20 platforms and 10 ziplines as you dare, with cable distances spanning between 279 and 1,476 feet (85 to 450 meters).
As you zoom across the platforms, catch glimpses of the white-sand beaches of Cayo Levantado in the distance and enjoy the rainforest setting. Spot nightingales or perhaps hear woodpeckers while zipping by coconut trees.
After your adrenaline-pumped activities, you'll be taken back to your hotel.
