We will pick you up from your hotel (or a pick up point in central HCMC if you prefer) and we go straight to Saigon’s best Banh Mi joint. Here we can watch the Banh Mi being made – baguettes stuffed with meat, veggies and pate. From here we take our Banh Mi to a spot on the waterfront where we eat them as we watch the sun go down over the skyline, and at this point we can all get to know each other for the tour ahead. After around 15 to 20 mins your tour buddy will take you on a short 15 minute ride out of the city to a local district where we will eat either Banh Xeo (Vietnamese crispy pancakes with shrimp, pork and veggies) or Bo La Lot (minced beef in piper lolot leaves grilled and served with salad) or you can have both! This is proper side of the road street food made by locals for locals, these places do not appear in any guidebooks. The group will spend around 25 minutes here before an extremely short hop into the next district for Banh Khot (tiny pancakes similar to Banh Xeo but with a different cooking style) and Sinh To (the delicious Vietnamese fruit smoothie) you can watch the Banh Khot being made in their individual moulds over clay pots – you can even try to make one or two yourself. To accompany this you can choose a Vietnamese smoothie made from a wide range of fruits. The groups spends approximately 30 minutes here before we take a scenic drive along the Ben Nghe canal with its interesting lights, shop fronts and street vendors and after around 15 mins on the bike you reach your final street food stop – an Oc restaurant. Oc is Vietnamese seafood and shellfish – we will order a variety of sampling dishes including crab, shrimp and clams. Here we sit on big tables outdoors and it’s a great opportunity for a good chat with your tour buddy group, and maybe a nice time for a beer or two – you that is not the guides! After this stop we take you back to your hotel (or a drop off point if you prefer) and we say our goodbyes.
