A fantastic day out from Inverness with to discover the Royal Dee-side and the Malt Whisky Trail! Visit Cawdor Castle, Ballater and see the beauty of the Cairngorms National Park.
Departing Inverness in the morning, this full day will take you first to Cawdor Castle, famous for its connection to Shakespeare's play Macbeth. Here you can visit the castle and walk in its beautiful garden (own expense). Then head to Glenlivet Distillery (not included), to learn about the process of creating the Scottish national drink and taste some of the best single malts produced in Scotland. This is also your lunch stop (own expense) as Glenlivet's restaurant offers delicious meals with locally sourced ingredients.
In the afternoon you stop in the Victorian village of Ballater, set in the stunning beautiful landscape of the Cairngorm National Park. Here you can get an insight into Highland life. Next stop is at the Royal Family's place of worship, Crathie Kirk, located in the spectacular scenery of the north east. On the way back to Inverness your journey will take you through some dramatic mountain ranges on one of Scotland's highest roads.
