Explore the legends of Rosslyn Chapel and journey through the Scottish Lowlands on this borders tour. Discover Melrose Abbey, the fabled resting place of the heart of Robert the Bruce, and take a 'tour and a taste' at Glenkinchie, a rare lowland whisky distillery.
You will depart from Edinburgh and immediately head down to the village of Roslin where you will visit the renowned Roslyn Chapel. Coming into prominence due to the bestselling novel ‘The Da Vinci Code’ by Dan Brown, once you step inside you will be treated to tales of the Knight Templar whilst exploring the history of this majestic chapel.
We depart the chapel and take a lovely scenic route to the borders of Scotland where we stop at the town of Melrose. Famous for allegedly being the burial site of King Robert the Bruce’s heart at Melrose Abbey, and the invention of rugby sevens, so there is something for everyone to explore. You will have time to see the sites and also have your lunch in this beautiful town before you depart for your next stop.
As the coach begins to make its way back to Edinburgh we make a brief stop at Scott’s View, a remarkable spot to see the valley of the River Tweed, where you will have time to take some photographs of this wonderful site that was apparently one of the favorite sites of Scots author Sir Walter Scott.
Next you make your final stop at Glenkinchie Distillery. Here you can enjoy ‘a tour and a taste’, where you will learn how they make their superb lowland whisky and try it for yourself. With a spring in your step, you will all board the coach again where your 8 hour tour will end at Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.
