Guests will stroll along Chicago's newly expanded River Walk while hearing stories about Chicago's past.  After the River Walk, the discussion transitions from History to Architecture as the tour winds through the city's inimitable "Loop" while guests visit inside and out 3 shining examples of the earliest "skyscrapers".

Our “River Walk & Loop History/Architectural Tour" is exactly as the name implies; the finest of everything that Chicago has to offer all combined into one tour. On this highly unique tour our guests will hear captivating stories about the city’s rich history while viewing and learning about some of Chicago’s most iconic architecture and artwork. Guests will stroll along Chicago's newly expanded River Walk while hearing stories about Chicago's past.  After the River Walk, the discussion transitions from History to Architecture as the tour winds through the city's inimitable "Loop" while guests visit inside and out 3 shining examples of the earliest "skyscrapers".The River Walk and Loop - History and Architectural Tour begins sharply at 1:00 pm every Friday and departs from Peet's Coffee & Tea - Wrigley Building Plaza - 400 North Michigan Avenue.  After a brief introduction, guests embark on this highly unique "Urban Safari" designed to examine some of the historical wonders and architectural gems scattered across the city.  

As guests explore the newly expanded River Walk, they enjoy great history stories that help explain how a swamp located at the intersection of a River and Great Lake transformed into one of the World's leading "Alpha" cities!  Some of these stories include; Chicago River, Harbor, River Reversal, Transportation Hub,S.S. Eastland Disaster, Iroquois Theater Fire, Chicago Theater, Daley Plaza and Christkindlmarket and Great Chicago Fire.

Along the tour route guests will view and discuss some of the following; Wrigley & Tribune buildings, Aqua & Aon Buildings, Trump Tower, Hard Rock Hotel, Mather Tower, Jewelers Building, Marina City Reliance Building, Block 37 and City Hall.   City Hall's lobby is not only breathtaking but hurried and full of bustle as politicians make their way to and from the Mayor's Office or Chicago City Council Chambers located on the second floor.

From the friendly and cozy confines of City Hall, guests head deeper into the "Loop" to hunt down some of the city's and perhaps, world's first skyscrapers!  Guests will learn Chicago's role in these architectural monuments and view 3 shining examples of the early skyscraper with stops at the Marquette, Monadnock and "Rookery" Buildings.

First up is the Holabird and Roche jewel - Marquette Building.  Guests will not only be taken in by its incredible exterior but truly awed by its stunning interior.  From there, guests proceed south on Dearborn to the fabulous Monadnock Building - the crossroads of old and new world architecture.  Guests will literally take a stroll back in time as they head inside and walk the timeless lobby of the Monadnock that dates back to 1891.  And lastly, the Piece de resistance of Chicago Architecture - the fabulous "Rookery Building" located at 209 south LaSalle in the heart of the Loop and next door to the the world's oldest futures and options exchange - Chicago Board of Trade.

All tours include a intermission restroom stop and treat along the way!
