This one-day private tour from Barcelona will introduce you both to Romanesque culture and Catalan cuisine. You will discover one of the most important pieces of Romanesque art in Catalonia: the Porch of Santa María de Ripoll, and you will enjoy simple but high quality cuisine with a Michelin star chef (awarded 2009). This private tour can be tailored to your interest.Once you are picked-up from your hotel (or a cruise), your guide will take you to Ripoll, known as the "cradle" of Catalonia, which served as its main religious center until 15th century.
Upon your arrival to Ripoll, your guide will take you to the Monastery of Santa María de Ripoll, dating back to around 880, last reconstruction of which happened in 1869.
The main architectural elements of the Monastery are: the two-storey cloister, and one of European best-preserved Romanesque porches, built in 12th century, waiting to be listed as a UNESCO site.
If your are interested, you can also visit the Ethnographic Museum of Ripoll, a small museum with a valuable collection of firearms. The manufacture of firearms was the main industry in Ripoll until the 19th century, and shows the remarkable local craftsmanship.
Afterwards, your guide will take you to the restaurant in the small town of Gombren (15 minutes´ drive from Ripoll), where you can sit back and enjoy a private catalan cuisine´s tasting menu, created by a Michelin-starred chef.
After your meal, you will be taken back to your point of departure.
