One of the most well known favelas of Rio de Janeiro, Vidigal is a unique place for its breathtaking views as well as its culture of arts and activism. The Caminho do Céu (Sky Path) is a special opportunity to get an insider’s view of this fascinating integration of nature, aesthetics and history.
Your experience will begin with a visit to Sitiê, a former trash dump that was transformed by the community into a public green space that has been prized internationally. From there, you will continue up the Caminho do Céu (hike of approximately 1 to 1.5 hours) to the Dois Irmãos Peak (533 meters), one of the three icons of the marvelous city together with the Christ and the Sugar Loaf. At the top, you will have the most beautiful postcard views of the city and see the "heart of Rio," the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, in full.
Your guides, trained at Institute Sitiê, will complement the astounding views with the urban, social and environmental history of the city and Vidigal along with knowledge of the unique flora and fauna of the Atlantic Forest.

All proceeds of these visits will go directly to support the activities and projects of the park plus Institute Sitie, a registered non-profit organization (OSCIP). Located in the upper part of the Favela do Vidigal, Park and Institute Sitiê for the Environment, Arts and Technology is an example of social integration and an initiative recognized as one of the most important urban innovations in Brazil and the world.
In continuous evolution, and always respecting our history of having transformed a 16-ton trash dump into a public green space, Sitiê, with its area of 8.500m2, is responsible for 58% of the public space in Vidigal and has gained international recognition for the excellence of its space and activities for education, democracy, arts, design, culture and technology.
