The Ring of Kerry is the best known coastal drive in the Southwest of Ireland part of the mystical and unspoilt region of Ireland that has attracted visitors for hundreds of years, and it does not disappoint. Its spectacular beauty is beyond question. You'll spend the day in part of what is known as the 'Wild Atlantic Way' in the Southwest region along a 112 mile (180 kilometers) drive on the Atlantic peninsula, known for its historic and colorful villages. The Ring of Kerry is without doubt one the most scenic drives in the south west of Ireland. Departing from Limerick, you'll head south passing through some idyllic towns and villages including Adare, famous for its thatched cottages and Abbeyfeale with its old fire station. Crossing the border into Kerry, better known locally as ‘The Kingdom’, you'll witness the mountains and countryside which stand out above the rest. 'The Ring' begins in the tourist town of Killarney. The Ring itself is steeped in history, and you'll pass through several towns and make stops as requested. Each town has its own story to tell and your driver/guide will share some history.    The first town on The Ring is Killorglin, home to ‘The Puck Fair’ the oldest pagan festival in Ireland. During the fair, a male goat is hoisted 40 feet up in the air on a platform and he becomes ‘King’ of the town for 3 days and to celebrate everyone goes to drink beer. There is a very good reason for this type of celebration which your driver/guide will share while on the tour. From here, you'll stop for an Irish coffee at the Red Fox, a traditional Irish pub famous for there Irish coffees and of course the Bog village, an award winning replica of a traditional famine village.

Next, head into the seaside town of Waterville where Charlie Chaplin spent many holidays. Then, drive to the top of ‘Comnakiste’ where you can enjoy beautiful views across the Beara Peninsula. Driving down into Sneem, you'll be in ‘the knot’ of the Ring of Kerry. Continuing along the route, drive through the ‘Country Park of Killarney’ and up again to ‘Molls Gap’ where we have the ‘Macgillycuddy Reeks’ mountain range and to your left rises ‘Carrauntoohil,’ the tallest mountain in Ireland. While en-route, visit the ‘Ladies View,’ named after a visit from Queen Victoria. This will be the first time you'll witness the three beautiful Lakes of Killarney. Making your way down the winding road through the stunning Country Park, which is both a wooded and rocky terrain, you'll arrive arrive at the end at ‘Torc Waterfall’ nestled in the wood rising to a height of 60 feet (18 meters). Upon completion of the tour, you will return to Killarney where you can enjoy the rest of your evening.
