After hotel pickup in Samaná, head east along the southern coast of the Samaná Peninsula, stopping for a photo op and brief history lesson at the location known as the Bay of Arrows (Golfo de las Flechas), the supposed site of a fight between Christopher Columbus and the natives who lived on the island at the time of Columbus' first landing in 1493.
Continuing the drive toward the southeastern corner of the peninsula, pause in the village of Los Cacaos to watch local fishermen bringing in the catch of the day. Then head north to Playa Rincon, hidden down a rocky road on the northern coast that keeps many crowds away from this pristine stretch of shoreline. After arrival on the beach, you have nearly four hours to hang out at your leisure.
The 3-mile (4.5-km) beach is often considered the most beautiful in the Dominican Republic, and even one of the prettiest in the whole Caribbean. Its soft white sand ringed by a forest of coconut palm trees provides a postcard-perfect setting. Swim in the calm turquoise waters, work on your tan and grab a bite to eat from the food stands when you need a snack (own expense). Lounge chairs are available to use.
Lunch is provided on the beach and includes fresh seafood such as lobster, chicken, coconuts and Dominican specialties, as well as beverages (water, soda and rum).
Before it’s time for you to leave, take a quick dip in the small freshwater stream that meets the beach to rinse off any sand and sunscreen. Your beach day trip ends with return to Samaná.
