The Museum of the wine Ribera del Duero is located in an underground cellar of the thirteenth century. The extensive network of walking underground cellars of Aranda is a distance of about 7 kilometers of tunnels and galleries, excavated to a depth which sometimes exceeds 10 meters. In the Middle Ages were interconnected and we could cross the city walking the underground galleries without going outside.
The cellars were dug between the XII-XVII centuries and they were almost always located under the houses. Currently there are surveyed a total of 120 cellars.
The cellars had to be constructed in a dry and sanitized land, the temperature has be low and constant, between 11 and 13 ° C, with a humidity of 80% throughout the year.
