It is part of the Most Ancient European Towns Network and history is on every corner.This day starts with us picking you up from the place where you are staying, we will then head straight to Évora through the countryside roads of Alentejo, a beautiful sightseeing road journey. Once we arrive in Évora, the must see place is St Francis Church and the famous chapel of the bones. This is a very enigmatic place in the city but a definite must see monument.
We will then head to the temple of Diana. Located at the top of the historical Évora, it is a roman temple from the 1st Century that is in an impressive state of conservation. It is one of a kind in Portugal and the city´s most famous landmark. A wine tasting session is on the menu, followed by a well deserved lunch that will have you tasting the best of Alentejo cuisine.
After lunch we will head towards Monsaraz and the biggest man made lake in Europe. Monsaraz is one of the most beautiful medieval villages in Alentejo region overlooking one off the biggest man made lake in Europe. Here we will have some time to walk around and enjoy the magnificent view from the castle.
After this we start our journey back to Lisbon but we will still have the chance to visit the Cromeleque dos Almendres, which is a Megalithic circle that is still a mystery for the science community.
