Meet at your chosen start point and time in central Tel Aviv. Discuss Jerusalem and the sights that you want to see with your private guide as you travel by air-conditioned car.

Enter the Old City through the Jaffa Gate and start with a walk along the Old City wall promenade and ramparts for sweeping views of the city. Next, head for the Western Wall (Wailing Wall), a sacred Jewish site. See its worshipers and learn how it is a remnant of Herod the Great’s Second Temple.

If availability permits, visit the subterranean Western Wall tunnel, which runs along the buried 1st-century wall. See relics discovered with it, such as the 46-foot (14-meter) Western Stone, one of the largest stones moved by humans. If a tunnel tour isn’t available, visit the Davidson Center, a museum dedicated to ancient Jerusalem with archaeological displays and a virtual recreation of Temple Mount.

Break for lunch, and then explore the Jewish Quarter to visit two historical synagogues. Admire the twice-destroyed Hurva Synagogue, with its recreated neo-Byzantine interior. Then, take a peek inside the underground 10th-century Karaite Synagogue.

Finish with a walk through the Old City Market before you travel back to Tel Aviv.
