Meet your guide at your hotel in central Fujinomiya and get whisked out to the countryside to begin this full-day adventure.
On the drive, learn about the history and culture of the area from your guide. Your first stop, Shiraito Falls, is considered holy as the source of the water is the snow from Mt Fuji. Once there, spend time gawking at the falls as tumble down. Then, continue your leisurely trek up the Tenshi Mountains, which stretch up to Mt Fuji.
After reaching the peak of the mountain at 4,300 feet (1,330 meters) and hiking to Mt Choja, take a break and have lunch. The final stretch of the trek may be the most aesthetically pleasing. Lake Tanuki, on the west side of Mt Fuji, offers splendid views of Japan’s iconic mountain. Be sure to bring your camera for this picture-perfect moment. At a small village near the lake, indulge in some snacks — such as a green tea ice cream — to commemorate your trek.
There’s nothing like a hot bath after a long hike. At the Fuji Tanukiko onsen, do just that. Bathe in the lusciously warm waters while thinking about the gorgeous landscape you took in today, before being shuttled back to your Fujinomiya hotel.
