Enjoy a day exploring the landscapes and artistic small towns that Tuscany can offer. In this full-day tour with a private English-speaking driver, you will be able to visit Siena, Monteriggioni, San Gimignano and Castellina in Chianti. Pick up and drop off will be at your accommodation in Florence. The tour will start with a pick up from your accommodations in Florence by private minivan. Your driver will be with you during the entire day. He will give you information on what you’re going to visit, and since the tour is private you’ll be able to customize the itinerary.

You will first go to Siena, whose historic center has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Siena is famous for its cuisine, art, museums, medieval cityscape and the Palio, a horse race held twice a year. By walking around the town, you’ll be able to see its main attractions. During the visit in town you can also visit the main squares and the cathedral.

Next up is Monteriggioni, a medieval walled town located on a natural hillock. During the conflicts between Siena and Florence in the Middle Ages, the city was strategically placed as a defensive fortification. It also withstood many attacks from both the Florentines and the forces of the Bishop of Volterra.

You will travel to San Gimignano, another walled medieval hill town. Known as the Town of Fine Towers, San Gimignano is famous for its medieval architecture, unique in the preservation of about a dozen of its tower houses, with its hilltop setting and encircling walls form an unforgettable skyline. Within the walls, the well-preserved buildings include notable examples of both Romanesque and Gothic architecture, with outstanding examples of secular buildings as well as churches. The historic center of San Gimignano, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Castellina in Chianti is a small town located along the Chianti hills. The town has Etruscan origins, but its aesthetics changed a lot during the centuries, until they reached the appearance of a medieval town seen today. The most impressive site to visit in town is the Rocca, or fortress, that can be dated back to the 15th century.

You will have free time in all of the towns you will visit for sightseeing, shopping or lunch. With prior notification, your local tour operator can organize a wine tasting, as well. Please consider that if you decide to have a wine tasting, you will have less time to visit the towns.

At the end of the tour the driver will take you back to your accommodation in Florence.
