Depart from your Santiago hotel and head towards the town of Los Angeles, one of the major agricultural centers of the region. The drive is through the Aconcagua Valley, slowly climbing until the last stage known as 'los caracoles'. A series of hairpin bends climbing steeply to a height of 2.855 meters / 9 421 feet above sea level, where the Hotel Portillo and the ski resort are located, overlooking the Inca Lake.
Your guide will tell you the legend of the Inca Lake and why the color of blue water is so striking. You are free to explore the ski resort at your leisure, and during ski season you may wish to take to the slops with equipment hire available (additional cost).
The ski season is from June to August, but the hotel is open all year round.
