Meet your private guide at your Edinburgh or Glasgow hotel, then hop inside an air-conditioned vehicle and travel into Scotland's wild countryside to see filming locations from the crowd-pulling Outlander series.
As you travel, chat with your guide about the Starz hit fantasy series. Adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s hugely successful book series, Outlander follows the exploits of a World War II nurse who is transported back to the turbulent Scotland of 1743, where she meets a handsome and headstrong warrior.
Pull up to explore the town of Falkland, which sits at the foot of the Lomond Hills. Falkland was used as the backdrop for Inverness of 1947 in the early scenes of Outlander. Tour the picturesque town and let your guide point out the recognizable sites, including the church that stood in for Danleigh Parish Church and the real-life Campbells Café.
After this, your guide will recommend several options for lunch including a selection of traditional, cozy Scottish inns, where you can stop to eat (own expense).
Hit the road again and head to the 13th-century Doune Castle (own expense), which doubles as the fictional Castle Leoch. Be transported back to the strife-filled days of the 18th century as you hear about the bloody battles that took place here during the Jacobite rising. Learn how the true-life battles and historical events compare to the various raids and skirmishes that are depicted in the series.
Continue on to Culross, which was the setting for Cranesmuir, the home of Geillis and Arthur Duncan, before visiting Lallybroch, Jamie Fraser’s childhood home. The filming location used for Lallybroch is on private property and this tour grants you exclusive access, which you would not otherwise have.
Come early evening, relax on the trip back to central Edinburgh or Glasgow, where your tour concludes.
