An opportunity to experience some of the wonderful history this part of Kent has to offer, Cliffs, Castles and Coves scattered in and around some pretty towns and villages steeped in stories from the past from smugglers to Monarchy, just sit back and enjoy the journey. You will be collected from your hotel at 8:00am in a luxury vehicle with 8 leather seats, fully air conditioned and valeted for your day. You will be driven approximately 1.5-hours to Leeds Castle. The castle doesn’t open until 10:30am but they do offer private guided tours from 9am for up to 25 people. The castle tour takes around an hour and the whole visit usually lasts around 2-hours but your guide will be there waiting, so you can be flexible. From there, travel to Canterbury and the cathedral.
The cathedral has the option to have a 1-hour guided tour with one of the cathedral guides. Only accredited cathedral guides are permitted to conduct tours. The castle and cathedral admission and tour costs are not included. The city of Canterbury has a great atmosphere and whilst not large, it would be well worth the visit. The cathedral is nothing short of breathtaking and you could spend several hours in Canterbury enjoying the city, including having some lunch.
You will be collected from Canterbury to start the Dover and the White Cliffs tour. From the Dover Seafront you can look back at the cliffs and the castle. Then drive along the South Foreland (the White Cliffs). Stop to look down over the harbor. From there you’ll go to the beach at St Margarets at Cliffe (very pretty). Then onto the village of Kingsdown and its beach where it’s believed the Romans first invaded Britain. From there onto the award winning seaside town of Deal via Walmer Castle, once the home of the Duke of Wellington when he was the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports.
The town of Deal has a history of smuggling, and some of the streets are worth a look. Then onto the Medieval town of Sandwich, the most complete medieval town in Britain. From Sandwich take a drive through some pretty villages before heading back to London finishing at your hotel.
