Your morning or afternoon river-rafting tour starts with pickup from your San Salvador hotel. Head out of the busy city for a 2-hour drive to the Guajoyo River, a major tributary of the Lempa River, which runs 262 miles (422 km) through southern Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador before flowing into the Pacific south of San Salvador. The Guajoyo River is home to four of the country's hydroelectric power stations, but it’s best known as the country’s top destination for white-water rafting for all experience levels.
Listen to a 20-minute briefing from your guide on tips and techniques to keep you safe and comfortable out on the water. Then slip on your life vest, hop into your raft and set off along the water, paddling as the river swells and rolls around you.
The 9-mile (15-km) stretch of river offers a range of wild rapids and calming flats depending on what route you take. As this is a private tour, you can customize your route based on your experience level. Enjoy optional activities such as rope crossing, bridge jumping and swimming along the way, and immerse yourself in beautiful scenery around every turn.
When the Guajoyo River reaches the Lempa River, take a dip in the calm waters and enjoy a moment to appreciate the natural surroundings. You can bring a picnic lunch, or there’s a restaurant near the water’s edge where you can grab some food at the end of your rafting adventure (own expense).
After 2.5 hours on the river, hop in the car for the return journey to your San Salvador hotel to conclude your 6-hour tour.
Please note: A minimum of six people per booking is required.
