You may choose from the following markets:
Dilli Haat, INA: A government-managed market of traditional arts, crafts, textiles and cuisines from different parts of India. The theme of this market is an organized village of vendors. Popular buys include handcrafts and handlooms (clothing items). On occasion, the amphitheater hosts various cultural performances.
Chandni Chowk: Located in Old Delhi, this market exemplifies the quintessential feeling of Delhi – noisy, busy, and overflowing with people and goods. People, bicycles, cycle rickshaws and animals jostle for space in the narrow lanes which twist off beaten paths to obscure stores. The stores sell anything from wedding wear to jewelry, and from hardware to electronics and food items. Authentic North Indian snacks are plentiful in this area.
Hauz Khas Village: A chic market located in what used to be a village. The market is dotted with contemporary restaurants, designer art stores and clothing outlets. The market is also a popular hangout for youngsters as they frequent the various restaurants and bars that also play host to musical performances. An added attraction is the Hauz Khas Tomb, the lake and the deer park located nearby.
Khan Market: One of Delhi’s oldest markets, this complex has a mix of regular stores and up-market restaurants. Stores range from branded lifestyle to one-store boutiques and tailors, and shops sell anything from books to cosmetics. Abundant restaurants and cafes cater to all tastes, from local to international cuisines.
Paharganj: Located in a congested part of Delhi near the railway station, Paharganj is a hub of tourist activity due to a multitude of budget-accommodating options and eateries. Shops selling clothing, shoes, jewelry, books, music, handicrafts, and trinkets are abundant here. If you are interested in custom attire, you can often get Indian dress stitched and tailored all in one day!
Sarojini Nagar: Among the more crowded markets, especially on weekends, this market is known for shops selling clothes, ranging from cheap t-shirts being sold on the footpath, to branded stores. The most popular stores are those that sell branded-wear, which are factory rejects with minor-defects and at bargain prices. Bargaining is the norm here.
Saket/Gurgaon malls: These modern malls offer a mix of all kinds of shops and department stores selling branded clothing, lifestyle goods, electronic goods, and more. Most malls have a variety of eateries including food courts and bars.
