Get acquainted with the antiquities of Egypt's Pharaonic periods by visiting the largest collection of Egyptian antiquities in the Egyptian Museum. Discover one of the most affluent areas of Cairo, Heliopolis and learn how to cook famous, traditional Egyptian Koshari.You will be picked up from your hotel in Cairo in an air-conditioned vehicle, accompanied by a guide and transferred to the Egyptian Museum, located at Al-Tahrir square in the heart of Cairo. It houses the largest collection of Egyptian antiquities. On the ground floor there is an extensive collection of papyrus and coins used in the Ancient world. Also on the ground floor are artifacts from the New Kingdom. On the first floor there are artifacts from the final two dynasties of Egypt, including items from the tombs of the Pharaohs Thutmosis III, Thutmosis IV, Amenophis II, Hatshepsut, and the courtier Maiherpri, as well as many artifacts from the Valley of the Kings. Two special rooms contain a number of mummies of kings and other royal family members of the New Kingdom.
After museum visit, continue to the bazaar for a free Egyptian drink and a chance to purchase some souvenirs. Then, proceed to a first class Koshari restaurant in Heliopolis. On your way there you will see the Baron Empain Palace, designed by French architect Alexandre Marcel and decorated by Georges-Louis Claude. Inspired by the Hindu temple of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, it was built in reinforced concrete between 1907 and 1911. The Palace is located in one of the elite suburbs near the Presidential Palace and is founded over a fixed base which allows the rotation of the palace to access sun beam from all directions.
Upon arrival to the restaurant you will be welcomed with a drink. Then, members of the cooking team will share with you the recipe and the history of Koshari dish. You will be advised best ways on and how to cook this Egyptian traditional meal. After lunch in this restaurant you will be transferred back to your hotel and this tour will be over.
