At 8:30am, your tour guide and driver will pick you up from the lobby of your centrally located hotel in Guilin and set off for a day of rural adventure in Longsheng which is around 56 miles (90 kilometer) away from Guilin and takes about 2 hours by vehicle to see the stunning scenery of Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces (also known as Lonji Rice Terraces).
Dragon's Backbones Rice Terraces (Longji Rice Terraces) receives its name because the appearance of these rice fields resembles a Chinese dragon's scales while the summit of the mountain range projects an image of the dragon's backbones. These terraced rice fields nestle in the river valleys where water is in abundance. In early June each year, water is pumped over the rice paddies and sprouting rice plants are being transferred to main terraces. The unique way of cultivation can be dated back to 650 years ago where local ethnic minority, Zhuang ethnic group, developed the fertile river valley for staple. Lunch is at your own expense but your guide will gladly provide ideas and suggestion.
After soak up amazing views of the valley while exploring the terrace in Longshen for better appreciation of profound wisdom and strenuous labor of the Zhuang people, your tour guide and driver will transfer you back to your hotel in Guilin where this private full day trip concludes.
