Guilty of decimating Pompeii and Herculaneum in AD 79, Mt Vesuvius looms over the Bay of Naples like a beautiful, silent menace.
Stopped in their tracks by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in A.D. 79, Herculaneum and Pompeii offer the best look anywhere at what life in Rome must have been like around 2,000 years ago.Depart from your hotel or cruise ship to take a tour to the ancient town of Pompeii and Herculaneum.

By choosing the option without the presence of a licensed guide, You will have your first stop at the Pompeii or Herculaneum ruins entrance. You will buy the ticket and will get inside the ruins and will enjoy them your own , after that, you will be lead by the driver, at the entrance of the second archaeological site (Pompeii or Herculaneum) and will be staying there a couple of hours to visit it, later on you will continue your excursion heading to the top of Mount Vesuvius and, after having bought, there, the ticket to access the walking path to the summit of the volcano, you will stop on the site to have the last visit of your tour.

Only by choosing the option with the presence of the licensed guide, You will have your fist stop to Pompeii or Herculaneum ruins entrance where you'll meet (if this is the selected tour option) your licensed tour guide, after that, you will be lead by the driver, together with the licensed guide at the entrance of the second archaeological site (Pompeii or Herculaneum) and you will be staying there a couple of hours to visit it, later on you will continue your excursion heading to the top of Mount Vesuvius and, after having bought, there, the ticket to access the walking path to the summit of the volcano, you will stop on the site to have the last visit of your tour.

Vesuvius has blown its top more than 30 times. The most devastating of these was in 1631, and the most recent in 1944. You will be driven up till the point where a relatively easy 860m path leads up to the summit.

Unfairly upstaged by Pompeii’s ancient offerings, the Ruins of Herculaneum have a wealth of archaeological finds, from ancient advertisements and stylish mosaics, to carbonized furniture and terror-struck skeletons.

A once-thriving commercial port of 20,000, Pompeii grew from Greek and Etruscan roots to become an important Roman city. Then, on August 24, A.D. 79, everything changed. Vesuvius erupted and began to bury the city under 30 feet of hot volcanic ash. For the archaeologists who excavated it centuries later, this was a shake-and-bake windfall, teaching them volumes about daily Roman life.
