Enjoy a private full-day tour of Cairo and Giza from Hurghada. In this tour you will visit the Giza PlateauĀ and pyramids, the Great Sphinx, the Egyptian museum and its treasures, and the Hanging Church, which is considered one of the oldest churches in the world.Start your tour with an early pickup from your hotel in Hurghada at 1:00am. Get in your private, modern, a/c van and head to Cairo (about 6-hour drive). You may want to bring breakfast with you for the ride.
When you arrive in Cairo, you will meet your Egyptologist guide and proceed to Giza, where you will stop at the Giza pyramid complex and visit the Great Pyramid of Cheops, built as a tomb around 2500 B.C. It is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one that still exists. You will also see the pyramid of Chephren, son of Cheops and the pyramid of Mycerinus, grandson of Cheops.
Take in the panorama, the highest point of the plateau, where you can get great pictures of the area. If you choose, you can enjoy an optional camel ride or visit to the Solar Boat Museum (own expense). Also located on the plateau is the Great Sphinx.
Have lunch at a tasty local restaurant and move to the Egyptian museum with more than 136,000 artifacts where you will be able to explore. See the numerous treasures of Tutankhamen, including his gold funereal mask and coffin. Visit the room of heretic king Akhenaten, the animal and royal mummy rooms, the oldest life-size statue of King Zoser, along with many statues and other artifacts.
Later, you will visit the area of Old Cairo where you can wonder at the remains of the Roman Fortress of Babylon and the Hanging Church Of Virgin Mary with its ancient architecture and beautiful icons.
Finally you will be transferred back to your hotel in Hurghada.
