After pickup at your hotel or the Vaitape pier, meet your captain and receive a short safety briefing and trip outline. Then board your boat, a 17-foot (5.2-meter) Boston Whaler Montauk, equipped with a sun shade.
Get comfortable on the quick and stable boat, which includes ample room for gear. As you cruise through the turquoise waters of Bora Bora, your captain shares in-depth knowledge of these clear tropical waters and their finned inhabitants. You’ll also learn about French Polynesian culture and its deep connection to the ocean.
Both tours are available for beginning or experienced anglers. It’s up to you whether you’d like to release, keep or share your catch, which is stored on ice until you return to shore. You can check with your hotel to find out if the kitchen is able to prepare a meal for you with your catch. Your 4-hour tour ends with return to your hotel after a memorable fishing trip in Bora Bora.
Choose from two options:
Deep Sea Fishing:
Cruise outside the Bora Bora reef to fishing grounds that promise an excellent deep sea experience. Your captain provides high-quality rods, reels and bait. Try your hand at catching jacks, wahoo, mahi-mahi, barracuda, bonito and yellowfin tuna. If you’re lucky, you might even hook a sailfish or marlin. If you are new to deep sea fishing, your captain shares tips and instructions on appropriate fishing techniques. Experienced fishermen benefit from the captain’s intimate knowledge of these waters. This trip allows a maximum of two people, ensuring focused attention from your captain.
Lagoon Fishing:
Your expert captain provides light tackle well-suited for the calmer waters of the Bora Bora lagoon. Troll for jacks, rainbow runner, bluefin trevally, bigeye trevally, small barracuda, lagoon bonito, needle fish, snapper and grouper. If you like, your captain can take you close to the barrier reef, where you can try spinning or popping. If you have your own fly-fishing gear with you, your captain can take you to good fly-fishing spots inside the lagoon. Some bonefish live around Bora Bora; however, the coral makes them difficult to catch. At times, big jacks that weigh more than 30 pounds (14 kg) can make a surprise appearance, but generally fish sizes vary from a half pound (250 grams) to 10 pounds (5 kg). This small-group lagoon fishing tour takes a maximum of four people.
