After your driver picks you up by private vehicle from your Guangzhou hotel, you will be transferred to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport for your direct flight to Xi'an. Upon landing at Xi'an Xianyang International Airport, meet your private tour guide and driver who will take you on your comprehensive city tour of Xi’an.
First, visit the world-famous Museum of Qin Terracotta Warriors and Horses, and follow your guide on a tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. This enthralling underground tomb, also named the Eighth Wonder of the World, was constructed under the orders of Qin Shi Huang – China’s first emperor who reigned from 259 to 210 BC.
View more than 8,000 life-size warriors, chariots and horses in the Terracotta Army and learn how they were entombed in Emperor Qin's Mausoleum for protection in the afterlife. Imagine the surprise of the farmers who found ceramic shards while digging a well near the royal tomb in 1974, and the intrigue of archeologists as they began excavations soon after!
Afterward, enjoy a delicious lunch nearby; your guide will help you choose from a menu of authentic Chinese cuisine.
Next, drive to the Xi'an City Wall, which stands 40 feet (12 meters) tall and extends for 8.5 miles (13.7 km), surrounded by a deep moat. You’ll have free time to explore the ancient city wall, including its gates and ramparts, either on foot or on a bicycle (rental at own expense).
Then, visit the local Muslim Quarter, also called Islamic Street, for a guided walking tour of several city blocks where more than 20,000 Chinese Muslims reside. See the renowned Xi'an Bell Tower, built during the Ming Dynasty and now the largest and best preserved of its kind in China. Standing 118 feet (36 meters) high, the wooden tower was erected to warn the military town of attack by invading rulers.
Head to Beiyuanmen Muslim Market for tasty snacks and souvenir stalls, and learn how Xi’an functioned for traders along the Silk Road since the 1st century BC. If you book the one-way option, your tour concludes here. If you book the round-trip option, you’ll be driven to the airport for your flight back to Guangzhou. Upon landing, your driver will transfer you back to your hotel in Guangzhou.
