Upon pickup from your Guangzhou hotel, your private local guide will drive you by comfortable vehicle all around the ancient and fascinating city, stopping along the way to visit and discuss cultural and historical landmarks.

First, visit Huacheng Square, a central point in the modernized part of the city, and take in the relaxing atmosphere of its lush greenery as you walk. Your guide will point out and describe modern architectural landmarks such as the Children’s Palace, Guangzhou Opera House and the magnificent 37-floor Canton Tower – the highest tower in the world.

Next, drive to Shamian Island, a quiet island with historical buildings that serve as a reminder of the colonial European period. Your guide will tell you about the design of the town, and discuss the British and French influences on its neoclassical architecture.

From here, head to Chen Clan Academy, an academic temple hailing from the Qing Dynasty, where students once prepared for their imperial exams. Admire the rich decorations designed in painstaking detail on its beams, ridges, walls and columns.

Inside, visit the Guangdong Folk Art Museum with exhibits featuring remarkable Cantonese craftsmanship from different areas of Guangdong Province, from Chinese ink and traditional embroidery to unique print arts and ceramics.

Around midday, your guide will give you suggestions of a good local restaurant to have lunch. Afterward, stop at the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King – a well-preserved tomb dating back 2,000 years to the Han Dynasty, with colorful murals and more than 1,000 burial artifacts.

Explore the tomb with your guide and see a large number of cultural relics, including King Zhao Mo’s burial garment, made of more than 2,000 pieces of jade connected by silk thread – the only one of its kind in the world!

From here, your guide will accompany you on a walk to Yuexiu Park, the largest park in downtown Guangzhou, where you’ll enjoy the serene atmosphere of singing birds, lush plants, and several lakes on your way to view the Zhenhai Tower -- also called Five Stories Pagoda.

Zhenhai Tower was built in 1830 at the beginning of the Ming Dynasty and now houses the Guangzhou Museum. Follow your guide on a private tour around the museum to discover delicate pieces of artwork highlighting Guangdong's history, culture, arts and natural resources.

At the end of your tour, you’ll be dropped off back at your Guangzhou hotel.
