Experience the real Balinese culture through their authentic cuisine on this private full day cooking tour with a visit to the Sangeh Monkey Forest. Bali holds a variety of delicious delights and on this experience you will unveil some of their secrets of cooking. The activities also offer an insight into the Balinese culture along the way.Enjoy a day away from hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy Bali completely by observing their daily routines and tasting their traditional cuisine, visiting a Balinese compound and a Balinese primary school.
You'll be pick up at 8am from your Bali accommodation and your driver will take you to Padangling village, approximately 45 minutes from the South Bali region. Enjoy a 15 minute Becak ride (traditional rickshaw transport) passing through rice fields and the village. You will stop at a local primary school and interact with the students.
At 10:15am you will begin your 2 hour cooking class. Discover the flavours and spices of Bali cuisine. Your class offers a fascinating introduction to exotic ingredients which are used for the unique culinary heritage of Bali. In the traditional kitchen you'll see the process of making Balinese wine and learn how to grind, mix and prepare the abundant herbs and spices which adds the unique texture and flavour to Balinese dishes. The menu includes food such as yellow rice, sate tusuk, satay, pepes, diced meat in banana leaf, Spinach in tomato chilli sauce, fried chicken, Balinese spice, kuah ares, young banana trunk soup and Balinese cake.
After the cooking class, enjoy an authentic Balinese lunch with the menu you just prepared. A short course about making Balinese offerings will be held after your lunch at the special hall of part of the traditional Balinese compound.
On the way back to your hotel, you will stop at the Sangeh Monkey Forest Located at Badung Regency. This 6 hectare rainforest features some of the giant forest plants such as Primordial and Giant Nutmeg trees which can reach up to 40 meters high and is the perfect home for 500 monkeys (Macaques Fascicularis). The sanctuary was considered sacred since the macaques were inhabited 17th century Pura Bukit Sari, a temple located deep within the green of the rainforest.
Your tour ends when you are taken back to your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle at 3pm.
