Day 1: (L, D)
Leave early in the morning to Antisana Volcano, which is the 4th highest active volcano in Ecuador at almost 19,000 feet is located 37 miles southeast of Quito. Once there, you will start to drive uphill to the ecological reserve. You will take a hike around the area to see eagles, caracaras, white tailed deer, pumas, and of course the majestic Andean condor. If you are lucky, you will see them! You'll also hike through the Andean slopes until the Mica lake in order to have a better view of the volcano and to watch beautiful water birds. After lunch, you will travel along the " Volcanoes Avenue" to get to Quilotoa. Accommodation in Chugchilan.
Day 2: (B,L)
Visit in the morning to Quilotoa Lagoon which has an spectacular view and its water color change depending on the climate. On the way, you’ll observe the colorful landscape of the moors and indigenous communities that inhabit the area. (Possibility to visit a indigenous market depending the day). At the lagoon, you can descend into the crater and return on horseback or simply take a walk around the crater. Overnight in Baños.
Day 3: (B,L)
Spend a full day exploring the town of Baños and the valley of the waterfalls. Visit The Pailon del Diablo (Devil's Cauldron) which is the largest and most spectacular Ecuador´s fall. Your driver is at your disposal for the whole day to give you maximum flexibility in the visits that you would like to make, including a visit to The House Tree, rafting, horse back riding, canopy, Hot Springs etc. Overnight at Baños.
Day 4: (B, D)
Today, you’ll take the Via Guaranda to Guayaquil, passing through the communities Santa Rosa, Pilahuin, and Río Blanco and then take an off-road to Chimborazo. After 4 hours of traveling, you’ll reach the Hermanos Carrel refuge at almost 16,000 feet above sea level. You will eat lunch (not included) and head to Alausí. Overnight accommodation in Alausi.
Day 5: (B-L)
After breakfast, time to take an exciting train ride, descending gradually from the highlands to the lowlands, at times zigzagging, or hugging the cliffs. At it's lowest point, you will see the incredible Devil´s Nose, an interesting rock, appear in the horizon.
The train descends and then returns to Alausí again. Return to Quito.
