Join us on a tour around the mysterious Snæfellsnes, the setting for Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth! Many myths and legends surround the peninsula's glacier and you get to explore and experience the peninsula with a private guide in a private car. Waterfalls, black pebble beaches, stunning mountains and coastline await!Snæfellsnes is a peninsula located in the west of Iceland. Stark beauty and awe inspiring nature is the theme here. The peninsula has amazing birdlife during spring and summer, especially the territorial and aggressive arctic tern.
On this tour we drive through the town of Borgarnes and head to Snæfellsnes from there. We visit Gerðuberg basalt column cliff before having lunch at Stykkisholmur. After lunch we might stop at a shark museum and taste some shark before heading to Iceland’s most photographed mountain Kirkjufell. We visit the black beach of Djúpalónssandur and the Lónsdrangar cliffs, both places are ruggedly beautiful like most of the peninsula. We visit the picturesque villages of Hellnar and Arnarstapi as well as the very beautiful Búðir. On the way back we can stop and have some mineral water straight from the ground.
On this tour you’ll have the opportunity to bathe in a natural hot spring. As there are no changing rooms there, this is completely optional of course.
Bring swimsuits and towels if you want to take a dip in a natural hot spring.
