    Take a half day trip and explore the Klis Fortress, a medieval fortress situated above a village bearing the same name, near the city of Split. While on this journey, head to Salona, an ancient metropolis of the Roman province of Dalmatia.
      Meet your guide at your hotel at 8:30am and head to Salona before arriving at 9:30am. In ancient times, Salona was the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia, until the migration of people, when it was abandoned. Salona has a very well-preserved amphitheater, theater, basilica, cemetery and many other Roman buildings. The construction of the Salonitan city walls took several centuries.

      Depart for the Klis fortress at 10:30am. From its origin as a small stronghold, built by the ancient Illyrian tribe Dalmatae, becoming a royal castle that was the seat of many Croatian kings. Due to its location on a pass that separates the mountains Mosor and Kozjak, the fortress served as a major source of defense in Dalmatia, especially against the Ottoman advance. The fortress has been a key crossroad between the Mediterranean belt and the Balkan rear. Depart to Split at 12:30pm and arrive at 1:10pm.
