Enjoy a private tour of Kandy by tuk tuk for a true Sri Lankan experience. On this 11-hour excursion, you will visit a handful of must-see's in Kandy, such as the tea plantation in Giragama, the Botanical gardein in Peradeniya, the Bahirawakanda Temple, and Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, to name a few. Your tour ends with a viewing of a cultural show, featuring traditional Sri Lankan dances.7am: You will be picked up from your hotel in Kandy by a tuk tuk and will drive to visit a tea plantation and a tea factory in Giragama.
7:40am: Arrive at Giragama, a tea plantation located in Central Sri Lanka. The estimate terrain elevation above sea level is 510 meters. Tea was first planted in Sri Lanka in 1824 at the Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya, when a few plants were brought from China. Explore the the plantation and factory before leaving to proceed to Peradeniya at 8:45am.

9:15am: Arrive at the botanical garden of Peradeniya, renowned for its collection of a variety of orchids. It includes more than 4000 species of plants, including of orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. You will leave for your next destination at 11am.

11:15am: Visit a gem lapidary and wood carving center. Some of the most sought after items in Sri Lanka are the precious and semi-precious gemstones. Moonstones, cat’s eyes, tourmalines, garnets, blue sapphires and red rubies are some of the gems that you can find on the island. Watch a presentation and visit the gem museum and gem outlet. You will also visit the woodcarving center situated opposite side of the gem lapidary.

12:30pm - 1:30pm: Lunch at Oak Ray Regency Restaurant 

2pm: Arrive at Bahirawakanda temple. The omnipresent 80 feet high Buddha statue seen from everywhere in Kandy city is a part of the Bahirawakanda temple. The temple was built on the “Bahirawa Kanda” or the gnome mountain. There are many legends about this mountain, all dealing with the sacrifice of beautiful virgins.

3pm: Arrive at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Located within the royal palace grounds, the stunning 17th-century Temple of the Tooth is believed to house the left upper canine tooth of the Lord Buddha himself. This precious relic attracts white-clad pilgrims, bearing lotus blossoms and frangipani everyday. 

4pm - 4:30pm: Do an upper lake drive and enjoy the view of the city and then proceed to visit Cultural Show.

5pm - 5:45pm: Watch the Kandy Cultural Show. Sri Lanka, a country rich with culture & tradition offers a very vibrant and unique show of Sri Lankan traditional dances.

6:30pm: You will be dropped off at your hotel.
