Taroudant is a Moroccan city located in the Sous Valley in the southern part of the country. It is situated East from Agadir on the road to Ouarzazate and south from Marrakech.
Step back in time with a half day trip to Taroudant. An ancient Moroccan city, nestled beneath the Atlas peaks, it’s a place where time has stood still. Inside the 15th century ramparted walls is a maze of minarets, small souks and pomegranate groves. There’s a chance to photograph the city from the outside before being whisked into the city for a mint tea break. Then its time to tour the Medina, haggle in the markets and try the local specialities like thyme-flavoured honey.
On arrival in Taroudant, the visit starts with the red walled 11th century ramparts and its five monumental gates (Babs). Then heads into the hustle and bustle of this former Berber rebel stronghold now renowned for the welcome it extends to its visitors and the friendliness of its shopkeepers. The maze of narrow streets leads to the busy square of Place Assarag, in the heart of the city. A guided tour of the souks with their traditional crafts on display will be provided, featuring silver jewellery, leather, engraved limestone, saffron, and many more spices, and of course Argan oil. Free time will be allocated for you to wander around and explore the area on your own. A glass of refreshing mint tea will be offered before leaving Taroudant.
