On this 8-hour private tour, visit three of the most important religious sites in Nepal. Your tour will cover the Kopan Monastery and the two UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Boudhanath and Swoyambhunath.
The tour begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Kathmandu at 9am. You will first head to Kopan, which takes about an hour by car. Upon arrival, explore the Kopan Monastery and around 10:30am you are welcome to attend the Daily Dharma Talk (available Monday to Friday). The Kopan Monastery is a study centre for monks, offering courses for Buddhism and meditation. It is located in a very serene setting atop a hill. Walk around the Kopan Monastery with your guide and later, you can enjoy lunch in Kopan café (at own expense), where you can witness a beautiful view of Kathmandu valley.
From Kopan, it is a quick trip to Boudhanath. You will arrive at around 1:30pm. This is the largest Buddhist Stupa in Nepal and the third largest in the world. It is hard to appreciate the immense size of the Boudhanath Stupa until it is seen in person.
The next stop is then Swayambhu or “Monkey Temple”. Located on a hillock, it affords a wonderful view of the Kathmandu valley. The site is approximately 2000 years old and features a large stupa. While it is primarily a Buddhist holy site, this place helps you understand the unique synergy between Hinduism and Buddhism which only exists in Nepal. Explore the terrace steps, stupas, shopping centres and the World Peace Pond.
The trip concludes with a drop-off to your hotel by private car at around 5pm.
