On this full-day tour you will be guided by an art historian around the famous arts, cultural monuments and the down-town in Lisbon. Then visit some of Portugal’s most beautiful sights. Embark on a trip to the wonderful village of Sintra. Visit the Pena National Palace, the marvelous Quinta da Regaleira, the stunning Roca Cape, and the beautiful Cascais and Estoril shores.After being picked-up from your hotel, begin your tour with a scenic drive through the old town to the 25th of April Bridge and the Christ the King statue, the largest concrete statue in Europe. You will then head toward the world-famous Belém Tower, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (along with the nearby Jerónimos Monastery), because of the significant role it played in the Portuguese maritime discoveries during the Age of Discoveries.
After, you'll see the great Monastery of Jerónimos, a fundamental work of Manueline architecture. This brilliant monument was commissioned by King Manuel I shortly after Vasco da Gama returned from his trip to India. The work began in 1502 with several architects and builders, among them Diogo Boitaca and João de Castilho.
Fall in love with magical Sintra, and visit the magnificent Pena Palace, designed by the artistic King Fernando II. The palace is an extravagant mixture of vivid colors and fine stone carvings. Entry ticket is included. After that, you'll go to Quinta da Regaleira, considered one of the principal tourist attractions of Sintra.
