Depending on the location of your hotel, a short drive may be required to reach our starting point.
We will start the morning with a visit to a typical wet market (Chow Kit Market) and observe the colorful way of life among the locals. From here, our walking journey brings you to Masjid India where your next adventure begins as we explore this area - affectionately known as “Little India”. Later, our guide will brings you to the Jalan Tun Perak and the Jamek Mosque, the city's oldest mosque which was built in 1909. Nearby this mosque lies the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers. This morning will end at a very local restaurant for an authentic banana leaf Indian lunch.
After lunch, visit The Sultan Abdul Samad building which was constructed in 1897 and has long been a landmark for Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur. The unique Moorish-style building has a 135ft (41m) high clock tower dubbed as the “Big Ben of Malaysia.” You'll visit the Dataran Merdeka or the Independence Square which is appropriately named because it was at this spot on August 31, 1957 where the Malayan flag was hoisted for the first time in the country's history upon gaining independence from the British rule. To complete exploration of this interesting part of Kuala Lumpur, we cannot skip a stop at the St. Mary’s Cathedral which opens on February 9, 1895 and was the first brick church erected in the native States of Malay Peninsula.
From here, it's another short walk to the Central market which showcases the local arts and crafts. Nearby, the “Sze Ya” Temple is one of the oldest Chinese temples in KL, as the capital is frequently called and the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple. This temple is the oldest functional Hindu temple in town and just around the corner of Chinatown, the facet of this multicultural and very respectful way of life ends our tour.
We will transfer you back from here to your hotel, where we will arrive at around 4pm.
