Your private guide and driver will pick up you from your hotel in Shanghai at 9:00am, and then you will be transferred to Suzhou (1.5hours) by a nice, comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle.
Suzhou city, built in 514 BC, it's with over 2,500 years of rich history and relics of the past are maintained to this day. The city's stone bridges, pagodas, and meticulously designed gardens have contributed to its status as one of the top tourist attractions in China. Since the Song Dynasty (960-1279), it has also been an important center for China's silk industry. It is occasionally dubbed the "Venice of the East" or "Venice of China".
Pay a visit to one of the four most famous gardens in China - The Humble Administrator’s Garden, the largest garden in Suzhou with typical southern east Ming Dynasty classic garden. With special Taihu lake rock- hills, delicate pavilions, lush flowers and trees, ponds in the different seasons and its 150 different Bonsai trees
Then, you will visit the local famous Silk Factory which is located in the old Japanese concession and once was the Japanese consulate. You will learn the whole process how the famous Chinese silk is produced, from the little silk worm to the beautiful garments.
After your morning tour, you will enjoy a nice and authentic Chinese lunch in a local restaurant (you will have choices of your own lunch at reasonable price).
After lunch, you will head to China No.1 water village Zhouzhuang, through its 900 year's development, Zhouzhuang still keeps its intact Ming and Qing dynasty buildings. By walking through its little narrow lanes and bridges , you will see the beautiful natural landscape, cultural atmosphere and folk customs. You will also visit to the residence of the local ancient Millionaire - Mr. Shen Wanshan’s house.
Mr. Shen developed such huge wealth who was once even got the jealous from the emperor in Ming Dynasty. While appreciating the classic architecture, you will get to know the interesting life story of Shen. Afterwards, you will continue the walking in the town and then visit the little local Taoist temple which has its 1000 year’s history. You can choose to take a gondola boat ride (at your own cost) along the canal water to enjoy the beauty of the water town.
After your tour is finished, you will be transferred back to your hotel in downtown Shanghai.
