Suzhou long time in the history was regarded as the heavenly city on the earth, and now regarded as the back garden city of Shanghai. Built in 514 BC, Suzhou has over 2, 500 years of rich history and relics of the past are maintained to this day. The city's stone bridges, pagodas, and meticulously designed gardens have contributed to its status as one of the top tourist attractions in China. Since the Song Dynasty (960-1279), it has also been an important centre for China's silk industry. It is occasionally dubbed the "Venice of the East" or "Venice of China".
Your professional guide will pick up you at the hotel at 9.00 am and take you to train station for the high speed train. About 30mins later you will arrive beautiful garden city Suzhou where you will start your day adventure. First of all, you will pay a visit to one of the four most famous gardens in China –The Humble Administrator’s garden. This is also the largest garden in Suzhou with typical southern east Ming Dynasty classic garden. With special Taihu lake rock- hills, delicate pavilions, lush flowers and trees, ponds in the different seasons and its 150 different Bonsai trees, After that take a Rickshaw along the old canal section.
Then, you will have lunch at an authentic restaurant at the local food street
After lunch depends on your interests you will have options to visit the largest Buddhist temple with classic garden complex in Suzhou which was originally built around Yuan Dynasties (about 13th century), or you choose to visit silk factory which located in the old Japanese concession and once was the Japanese consulate where you will learn the whole process how the famous Chinese silk is produced, from the little silk worm to the beautiful garments.
Next, you will be guided to the “No.1 ancient street “, and you can take a boat trip along the canal. By cruising on the old water ways, you will see the typical south-east old houses built along the canals, women washing clothes, old man playing cards, and children playing around. This offers you the true experience of all the sights, sounds and scent of Suzhou。
At the end of the cruise you will have a look at the famous leaning pagoda on the Tiger hill , the leaning pagoda is regarded the second leaning pagoda after the one in Italy Pisa.
Then transfer back to the train station in Suzhou and back to Shanghai.
