The city is known for its beauty but most important for its Witches Weighing House. In the 16th century, this house was known throughout Europe for providing persons accused of witchcraft with an official certificate that they were not a witch. But only after they passed the weighing test.
Then you will head to Gouda. Gouda is a city between Utrecht and Rotterdam and is most famous for its Gouda cheese and its 15th-century city hall, believed to be the most beautiful Gothic city hall in Holland. The world famous Gouda cheese is not made in the city itself but in the surrounding region. It derives its name from being traded in Gouda.
Then you will visit Kinderdijk. Kinderdijk is a village about 15 km east of Rotterdam. Kinderdijk is situated in a polder at the confluence of the Lek and Noord rivers. To drain this polder, a system of 19 windmills was built around 1740. This group of mills is the largest concentration of old windmills in the Netherlands. And are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
And lastly you will head to Schoonhoven. Schoonhoven is a small city dating back to the 13th century and is renowned for its silver, hence it is nicknamed Zilverstad (“Silver City”). Since the 17th century silver smiths have clustered in this city and continue to this day. Making it an excellent opportunity to see and perhaps buy some authentic Dutch silver. Schoonhoven is the home of the Nederlands Zilvermuseum (Dutch Silver Museum) and the International Silver School.Afterwards, you will be dropped off back at your hotel in Amsterdam.
