At 8:30am or 9:00am, your guide will meet you at your hotel lobby and drive to first stop of the day, Terra-Cotta warriors museum. After one-hour drive, you will arrive at the most magnificent archaeological excavation of 20th century which is reputed as the eighth wonder of world. Thousands of life-sized soldiers, each with different expressions, and horses, all accompanied the first emperor of China in the burial. You will spend the morning exploring the museum until lunch is served.
After lunch, you will have an opportunity to visit an cultural heritage, cave dwelling, which is quickly disappearing due to urban development and lifestyle. You will stop by the cave home of Mrs. Pang who is one of the last remaining cave dwellers in this small village. Tour her home and learn about the history and changes of cave dwelling residents and ask her questions about their daily lives.
Next, you will drive back to the city and visit City Wall, the most complete and best preserved ancient city wall in China. It is also one of the best ancient military fortress in the world. The circumference of the wall is about 8 miles (13.7 km). In the late afternoon, you will visit the Great Mosque and explore the Muslim food street.
The Great Mosque is the oldest and a very unique mosque in China because it possesses much Chinese traditional styles in both design and aesthetics. On the Muslim street, you can try out a variety of local Muslim food and snacks such as Chinese hamburger with lamb and beef, cold thin noodles with sesame paste, sliced pancakes with chunks of beef or lamb soup...etc. You will also see how these foods are being prepared and cooked right in front of you to better appreciate why food culture is also a big part Xi'an heritage.
