Enjoy some of Lima´s magical history by discovering some of the best attractions and culture that the “City of Kings” has to offer. After your city tour, you will continue down the coast to sit beach front and enjoy a large buffet with traditional Peruvian dishes and desserts.Begin your tour with pickup from the port of Callao to the city of Lima. This tour offers you the possibility to discover Lima’s treasures. You will be taken through historical Lima to admire the typical wooden balconies and the beautiful churches. First, you will be able to view the Plaza San Martin, the most beautiful square in the downtown area built in honor of Peru’s 100th anniversary as an independent nation. From here, you will walk through one of Lima’s most iconic business streets El Jiroón de la Union towards the Plaza de Armas. Enjoy the Government Palace, the Archbishop’s palace, The Cathedral and the Municipal Palace with thorough explications of history and modern use.
Afterward, you will visit the Banco Central de Reserva Museum, where you will admire the “Treasures of Perú” Collection, a fine selection of objects made of gold, ceramics and textiles from different pre-columbian cultures. The next stop will be the monumental San Francisco Convent, which displays the largest collection of religious art in America. Your highlight here will be the visit of the underground vaults, known as “Catacumbas”. Concluding your tour of the historical center of Lima, you will be able to visit the Hotel Bolivar and enjoy a Peruvian snack and Peru’s national drink the Pisco Sour (please note that snack and Pisco Sour is not included in the tour price).
After your visit of the historical center, you will be taken to the district of Miraflores where you will be able to enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the “Pucllana Pyramind” or better known as the Huaca Pucllana. This magnificent ceremonial and archeological center was built in the 4th century A.D. by the Lima Culture and was considered a sacred village by the Incas. Following the Huaca Pucllana, you will head to the heart of Miraflores to have a short stop to enjoy the view of the Pacific Ocean before returning to the port of Callao. For those who choose to have lunch, you will continue down the coast to the restaurant Costa Verde. Sit beach front and enjoy a large buffet with traditional Peruvian dishes and desserts. There will also be a demonstration of how to make ceviche and pisco sour and you will be served a pisco sour as a courtesy. The buffet lunch includes one chicha morada, other beverages are at your own expenses.
