Depart at 9am and travel in an air-conditioned vehicle to the SA Museum while overlooking the stunning Company Gardens.

The walking tour begins through historical Company Gardens that originally served as a means of fruit and vegetables for ravenous sailors rounding The Cape. The original trees and landmarks still stand along with some hidden secrets.

Leaving The Gardens at the bottom end, you will find yourself in the vibrant CBD (Central Business District). The city has a strong architectural history and some of the best-kept Art Deco buildings. When wandering the streets, your guide will explain the history while assisting you with capturing the essence of the city center and vibrant people. Stop at many historical landmarks and then pass by the boisterous flower market on Adderley Street.

Heading in the direction of Signal Hill, you will pass through Greenmarket Square where pan-African craftsmen display their goods. After crossing Buitengracht Street, you will have entered the Bo Kaap – home of the colorful Muslim community.

The Technicolor Bo Kaap streets are world famous with their brightly-colored and terraced homes. Visit Chappini Street and the local spice emporium where your guide will assist you in capturing and composing your images.

After walking the streets, you are sure to have worked up quite an appetite.

Arrive at the “purple” home for an authentic experience and one that gives you the best taste of life in the Bo Kaap. Everyone has a part to play in preparing a traditional meal so you might find yourself kneading, chopping, folding or stirring in preparation for your sumptuous Cape Malay feast of rotis, samosas, curries and koeksisters.

The tour ends after lunch but for those who still have energy, we recommend a trip up Table Mountain or a leisurely afternoon on the beach.
