Explore the enchanting Lobkowicz Palace in Prague on a 1-hour walking tour, and learn its history from a knowledgeable guide. As you check out the palace’s highlights, listen to fun facts about the Lobkowicz family dynasty and the European artwork that they coveted. Hear about paintings by Canaletto, admire original manuscripts by Beethoven and Mozart, and see an array of Bohemian decorative arts.
Meet your guide at Lobkowicz Palace inside the grounds of the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Prague Castle. With more than 20 galleries and regal-looking saloons, the palace is home to the private art collection of one of the oldest dynasties in Bohemian history: the Lobkowicz family.
The best way to see the artwork and artifacts is with a guide, so listen to your guide’s commentary as you explore each room. Learn about the Canaletto and Velázquez portraits, and hear the history behind 16th-century ceramics and military paraphernalia from historical European conflicts. Other highlights include one of the world’s largest Delft dinner sets among other decorative arts from the Bohemian era.
As you walk, enjoy fun facts about the Lobkowicz family and hear insights into life in the Czech Republic and its place in European history. Follow your guide from room to room, admiring the art, and then check out the collection of musical instruments alongside original manuscripts from famous composers. Sections from Beethoven’s ‘Symphony No.4’ and ‘Symphony No.5’ are on display along with Mozart’s rework of Handel’s ‘Messiah,’ which is written in Mozart’s own hand.
After 1 hours exploring the palace, finish your tour at the start point. If you are feeling hungry or need a drink, head to the terrace café to enjoy a snack with a view, at your own expense.
Please note: Your Lobkowicz Palace tour includes entry to the palace only, not all Prague Castle buildings.
