This tour starts at 9:30 am with pick up at Porto Airport (OPO) or any hotel in Porto city or Vila Nova de Gaia areas. A Lancia Thesis luxury sedan is used as transportation. The first stop will be at Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art (Architect Alvaro Siza Vieira) for a coffee and general explanation of the place. Driving up the Avenida da Boavista, we will pass in front of Boavista Residencial Park (Arch. Agostinho Ricca), Burgo office building (Arch. Eduardo Souto de Moura). We will stop at Music Hall - Casa da Música (Arch. Rem Koolhaas) for a 1 hour guided visit to the building. We will descend the same avenue heading to the sea passing by Vodafone Office (by Barbosa & Guimaraes Arquitectos). By the sea, heading north, we will contemplate the Transparent Building (Arch. Solà-Morales), and the giant statue “She moves” (by Janet Echelman). We will cross the towns of Matosinhos and Leça da Palmeira, to visit Boa Nova Tea House (Arch. Siza Vieira), one of the first works of this Pritzker awarded architect, born in town, now transformed into an exclusive restaurant. This may be a possible option for lunch (not included in the tour).
In the afternoon, we will head directly to the Dragao Stadium (Arch. Manuel Salgado) of the local FC Porto soccer team, built in 2003. 45 minutes guided tour to this much awarded stadium, except if a match is taking place. We will, then, head to Downtown Porto to visit to the 24 de Agosto Metro Station (Arch. Souto de Moura), Sao Bento Metro Station (Arch. Siza Vieira), Avenida dos Aliados urban renewal plan (Arch. Siza Vieira & Souto de Moura) and the Medieval Town Hall – Casa dos 24 (Arch. Fernando Távora) very close to Porto cathedral. During this period, we will have an afternoon snack. The tour is planned to end at 6:00 pm.
The tour can be conducted in English, French, Portuguese or Spanish. Lunch and other extras of personal nature not included.
