The perfect tour for archaeology lovers: a full day exploring the two roman cities buried in 79 b.C.: Pompeii, the commercial city, and Herculaneum, the residential town.A great occasion to combine the two most famous archaeological sites in Campania! Optional pick up by minibus. Meet the guide in Amalfi and departure by the de luxe motor coach to Pompeii. Visit the archaeological excavations (2 hours approx) of the Roman city buried by Vesuvius eruption to discover the conditions and contexts of ancient life which were suddenly interrupted in the night between the 24th and 25th of August, 79 AD, when the eruption of Vesuvius buried this town under five meters of lapilli and ash.

Free time for lunch. Continuation to Herculaneum, the other city buried by Vesuvius with Pompeii. Visit (2 hours approx) of the archaeological excavations. Whilst Pompeii was a busy commercial centre, Herculaneum by contrast was a quaint residential coastal town. Herculaneum is not to be missed if you want to discover another side of life during the Roman Empire. Please note this tour is not suitable for less mobile as it is a very long day walking into excavations sites. On the journey back to Amalfi Coast, stop to a famous cameo atelier of the area. Expected return: 5.00 pm
