Meet a host at Rome Termini station to receive your train tickets. Then, hop aboard your high-speed train to Naples Central Station, where you arrive after just an hour. Meet your local guide as you leave the train, and swap your mode of transport to an air-conditioned coach for the short shuttle to Pompeii.
On arrival at the site, head straight inside the ruins with your skip-the-line ticket, and learn about the site — past and present — from your guide. Easily one of the world’s most famous digs, Pompeii holds a spot on the UNESCO World Heritage list for its incredibly preserved ruins — the entire town was frozen beneath a sea of volcanic pumice stone and ash for centuries.
Explore streets flanked with monuments, fossils and ruins, and see the sights that offer an insight into life in a bustling ancient town. A highlight is your visit to a domus, which would have once been the dwelling of an upper-class Roman family. See how Pompeii’s most influential people would have lived, and admire the vivid frescoes of gods, beasts and landscapes that bedeck the different rooms.
When your 2-hour tour ends, take a break to enjoy a cup of coffee at your own expense, or perhaps shop for souvenirs at the site’s gift shop. Then, return to the prearranged point to reboard your coach, and travel back to Naples. Finally, board your train to finish your experience at Rome Termini station in the early afternoon.
