Your small-group paddleboard adventure begins with convenient pickup at your St Petersburg hotel, if you request it (call ahead). After meeting your guide and relaxing on an hour-long drive, you’ll arrive at a spring-fed river with water so clear it looks as though it came from an Evian bottle. Your guide will help you get oriented on your board and make sure you’re comfortable for the 5.5-mile (9-km) ride down the gorgeous Spring River.
Cruise at a comfortable pace as your guide provides information about the tropical plants lining the river’s shoreline. Let the flow of the river gently push you along while you watch for the wildlife that lurks beneath the surface, including manatees, fish, turtles and more. Many different species of birds swoop and soar above you.
Take a break partway down the river and relax on the shore while enjoying lunch. (Please bring your own; your guide will bring it down the river in a cooler.) Take a dip in the 74-degree water. Peer beneath the surface of the water with the provided mask and snorkel or, if you’re feeling adventurous, grab one of the nearby rope swings and fly like Tarzan. Dry off in the sun and relax for a few more minutes.
Hop back on your board and continue floating along, watching out for more wildlife and learning about the local ecosystem from your guide. At the end of the trip you’ll get back in the van and be driven back to your departure point.
