Head to Cairo from Alexandria Port to explore Cairo on an overnight visit. Explore the famous Giza Pyramids and Saqqara on the first day, and the Egyptian Museum, the Mosque of Mohamed Ali Pasha and the bazaar on your second day, before returning to Alexandria port.Day 1: Alexandria Port/ Pyramids Tour
You will be picked up by your guide from Alexandria Port upon your cruise ship arrival. Meet him by the exit door, he will hold a sign with your name on it. Then you will be driven to Cairo, which takes approximately 3 hours. The car is air-conditioned and equipped with free WiFi, and you can have a stop anytime you need a break and stretch your legs.
Start your tour in Cairo with a visit to the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus. Then proceed to visit the Great Sphinx, the head of a pharaoh with a lion's body, which dates back to the time of Chephren; the tour also includes a visit to the Valley Temple, which belongs to the Pyramid of Chephren. Move on to Saqqara to visit the Step Pyramids of Zoser, the world's oldest major stone structure. It was built in 2630 BC for King Zoser. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Cairo. Day 2: Egyptian Museum / Salah Din Citadel
Breakfast at your hotel, then you will be escorted by your tour guide to Salah el Din Citadel, Albaster mosque of Mohamed Ali which was designed by the architect Yousif Boushnaq, a Turkish man who came especially from Istanbul to build this great mosque for Mohamed Ali, the ruler of Egypt 1805.
Lunch will be at a local resturant in Cairo, then move on to visit the Egyptian Museum which features artifacts from the Pharaonic period. Over 250,000 artifacts are presented, including an exhibit dedicated to Tutankhamen collection of treasures. Your last stop will be Islamic Cairo, where you will visit Khan El Khalil Bazaar, Cairo`s old market.
After that you will be driven back to Alexandria, in time for your cruise ship's departure.
