It is a strenuous hike in the wilderness and a change in altitude of 800 meters will be involved, so you must have a good physical condition. Enjoy an overnight tour in which you will hike from El Castillo, near La Fortuna to Monte Verde. You will go on a guided tour through the rainforest mountains and rustic unique farms. Meet your guide at 8am at the office and shop in El Castillo where you will get ready to start your adventure. You will take a farm road through forest up to Finca Artesana's base camp. You will stop to rest for a bit and get some refreshments and continue get ready to take a forest trail through forested mountains. This portion of the trip will be about 6 hours depending on the hiker and the weather conditions. You will reach Rancho Maximo Rustic Bed and Breakfast, where you will have dinner and lodge for the night.
The tour ends in the morning, the following day, after breakfast approximate 8:00am with your host Maximo.
Options for continuing on to Santa Elena or returning to el Castillo are as follows:
*return with your guide you started with in el Castillo back to Base camp and then continue on your own to el Castillo.
*for continuing your wilderness journey to Santa Elena, the gateway to Monte Verde ,continue on to Santa Elena by options of shuttle or walking on public gravel road and farm road.
*continue to Biological Station in San Gerardo for 40 min approximate hike.
The tour ends in the morning, the following day, after breakfast approximate 8:00am with your host Maximo.
