Forest of Ruru is a beautiful native forest in the Far North of New Zealand. Experience this amazing overnight forest getaway. Come and enjoy a rich and complex far north rain forest. You can be at one with nature.

Over the last 6 years private owners, who purchased this forest of around 300 acres, have restored it to health with ongoing conservation work. Recently they've opened it up for Eco-tourists so other people can enjoy it.

There are lots of things to see and do, from trekking to ancient trees over a thousand years old, to tasting edible forest plants and berries, or seeing beautiful native New Zealand orchids or birds, or you could try your hand at conservation work.

Tours are guided as the forest is a wild and untamed wilderness (not just set up with tracks). The terrain is rugged, but with a guide it can be made into easy walks if that's what you want, or difficult ones.
